Through the canvas of my homeland’s history, I have gradually delivered to you three novels. This trilogy spans the period from 1872 to 2023, and through three different narratives, it describes the impact and consequences on the daily lives of the people of Cyprus, that have the Ottoman rule, the British rule, migration, poverty, and prejudices.

Now is the time to delve into another historical setting and share with you different topics that I hope you will find interesting.

But before I present my new work, I would like to remind you of these three novels and give you the opportunity to review them again or for some of you to see them for the first time. A second reading will not only reconnect you with the content of the story but also with many details and historical information that you may have missed the first time.

Maria

The story of Maria begins in 1872 and ends in 1927. It’s a personal struggle to discover her identity and the history of her life. Set in Cyprus and London, through the adventures of this remarkable woman, we learn how the society was affected and shaped by Ottoman rule and how British rule opened a different channel, but people never ceased to hope for their freedom. It mainly focuses on the history of Nicosia. Various international historical events of the time are intertwined.

The Secret of Zenovia

The name “Zenovia” belongs to two women in this story, which starts in 1874 and ends in 2021. One is the great-grandmother, and the other is the great-granddaughter. It takes place in Cyprus, Alexandria in Egypt, and Melbourne in Australia, following the journey of Cypriots leaving their country and their poverty behind for a better future.

It deals with the prejudices of the time, which oppressed women, and follows the historical events of Cyprus through a journey undertaken by the younger Zenovia, searching to uncover the secret of her great-grandmother, lost for almost 100 years.

The grey-eyed Cinderella

A classic romantic fairy tale that takes a completely different path, lasting 50 years, until justice is served. The historical fabric upon which it is woven, literally with golden thread, is the period of Cypriot migration to London with the hope of a better future. There, they are faced with the dilemma of dual homelands, which still haunts many today. The story begins in 1940 and ends in 2023.
